Cleo's Exciting Adventure

In December 2009 Boxer Dog Rescue Northern England made a very special delivery.  We rehomed the lovely Cleo to her new forever home on the island of Bermuda.

Cleo's new mum and dad, Sharon and Brian, were delighted with their new arrival who is treated like a real princess.

Sharon and Brian had previously owned Sasha - a boxer they rescued from the local SPCA on Bermuda.  When Sasha recently passed away they were devastated and vowed to open their hearts to another rescue boxer.  The SPCA didn't have a suitable candidate so they chose to look further afield and found us here at BDRNE.

Nicki Platt from Bark Busters UK fostered Cleo prior to her trip and travelled with Lesley Draper from the Rescue to ensure Cleo was settled in well in her new home.

Sharon was delighted to have the patter of 4 paws back at home and immediately enrolled in the Bermudian All Breeds Club training and agility sessions.  Cleo had an introduction to many of her new friends on Sunday 13th December when she attended the All Breeds Christmas Party at the Botanical Gardens.  Sunshine and Santa really did mix well!

On the Radio

Nicki Platt from Bark Busters accompanied me on the trip to Bermuda.  Nicki kindly fostered Cleo for a while before we travelled so we could ensure we understood her character and could establish if she had any behavioural issues in advance of the trip.  This was a very important part of the preparation because we knew there would be very little chance to return the dog once the adoption was completed.  We had to get this right first time!

Nicki also holds a regular behaviour phone in slot on Radio Merseyside as part of the Sean Styles Show.  The Friday after our return Nicky gave the trip a mention - listen here!
